She earned her alias "Black Widow" through her work for the KGB and as a gun for hire, profiling and neutralizing threats. Following an encounter with Clint Barton, she joined S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division) in the United States. With them, she established multiple covers and completed numerous missions. Recently, she joined the Avengers Initiative, a team effort which prevented the Chitauri invasion. However, she and fellow operatives uncovered S.H.I.E.L.D.'s secrets, learning the organization had been compromised and releasing its database to the public. She was subsequently investigated for her involvement but not charged with any crimes. After her hearing, she disappeared. ✖ CHARACTER ASSESSMENT: Wry and sharp, Ms. Romanoff has an undeniable charm, though it is likely, to an extent, an affectation. If anything, she is self-aware and, as a result, adaptive. Her experience in espionage has equipped her with the keen ability to asses her opponents and adjust herself accordingly. It is difficult to constrict her with an archetypal description. She appears straightforward, unnervingly open about some subjects and masterfully evasive regarding others. Her morality allows for duplicitousness as well as extreme force. Establishing loyalty and friendship, though not impossible, requires diligence. Do not underestimate her.
