He has been dead last in the hero rankings until recently. During his Academy years, his classmate, Edward Keddy, went to rescue a hostage but was charged with murder when he shot her instead. Karelin was present but was too scared to do anything despite Keddy calling for his help. The same friend later tried to kill him in revenge for ruining his hero career. However, they have been doing better now after Karelin protected Keddy's life, and Karelin visits him regularly in prison. Karelin started to behave more like a hero after and even played spy to discover the hideout of Ouroboros and how their weapons were controlled. (The mission was half a success as Karelin never fooled Ouroboros but did gain information.) Karelin has shown a lot of growth in his skills, both in Japanese weaponry and applying his shapeshifting power. His relationship with the other heroes has also grown, and he no longer speaks to walls while trying to converse with them. He still stays mostly in the background. ✖ CHARACTER ASSESSMENT: While generally polite and quiet, Karelin is his worst enemy. He has low self-esteem and self-confidence, and he is quick to blame himself for many things. Even with evidence of his own success, he will still place others above him and point out his own flaws. He can be very stubborn about it, and he can also be very emotional. Karelin does not do very well in social situations and is likely to be a follower.
